Meaningful, timeless and elegant

Jewelry has mostly been used for personal decoration, but children have worn jewelry for many other reasons. In some countries was to show status and wealth, in others was because of their superstitious beliefs. Some children would have jewelry with bells so parents would know if they were out of their safe sight.  For centuries these jewelries were made out of shells, bits of wood, animal teeth, leather, feathers, and pebbles. Many infants wore these pieces as well as older children.

Before leaving the hospital in Brazil right after birth, doctors would ask parents if they wanted to pierce their little girls’ ears. Majority of parents would do it. My mom brought to the hospital a pair of 18k gold stud earrings and had them pierce my ears before leaving. When I had Annalee I wanted to pierce her ears right after birth, but they didn’t offer it at the hospital. Annalee’s pediatrician advised us to wait till she was around 3-5 months old. A couple of days ago, we were in the elevator in our building and some lady said ‘’oh he is so cute’’. I mean she had a black and white outfit, but truly I couldn’t get offended because she didn’t know if it was a little boy or a little girl.

There are so many different jewelries for children, gold, silver, pearl and diamond!!! I do prefer to use either gold or silver because since infants’ skin is very sensitive it can cause an allergy breakout. Is there anything cuter than a baby wearing a pair of earrings or a bracelet?!? Today, the most common reason for giving jewelry to a baby or child is giving a meaningful gift that will last a lifetime. Personalized infant bracelets are a meaningful and unique baby shower, christening, first communion, bar mitzvah or birthday gift.
